Liss Does London Fashion Weekend

Last Thursday, 18th September, I went to Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend which is something I had planned for months as I got the tickets for my birthday and I had been counting down the days ever since.

I had tickets for one trend show which featured 4 key trends that the OUTNET.com think will be hot for Spring/Summer 2015 and also a designer show which was Amanda Wakeley who had already showcased her collection earlier in the week at London Fashion Week. I had front row tickets to Amanda Wakeley and both shows were incredible. I will go into more details on separate blog posts about the two shows.

Before going to London Fashion Weekend I had spent weeks thinking about what I was going to wear and I thought I had an outfit planned but the weather was not as cold as I had first thought it would be and therefore had to almost change my whole outfit. After a lot of 'umming' and 'ahhing' and constantly having the weather app open on my phone, I finally decided on an outfit.
The weather was good and it was a pretty warm day for September so I decided to wear my flowy, very high waisted black trousers from Zara along with a light knit and mesh crop top from River Island. Seeing as it was a warm day, I didn't bring a jacket and I just wore my trusty black sandals from New Look. I almost didn't wear my hat but I decided my outfit needed something else added to it and I needed something to break up the all black so I added my Christy's London fedora to add a bit of autumn colouring.

At London Fashion Weekend there were plenty of boutiques and pop up stores to look around and my friend Alison and I spent a long time admiring the beautiful clothes on offer. The stores were pretty high end high street and a lot more expensive than I thought they would be but their clothing was so gorgeous. I saw a lot of fur around as that is a key trend for AW14.

In between a show and looking around the boutiques, Alison and I popped to the tote bag collection station to collect our free tote bag filled with goodies and we weren't disappointed. The tote bags included a HELLO Fashion magazine, Maybelline mascara, Garnier make-up wipes, Essie nail polish plus snacks and many more little goodies! I was so impressed with the bags!

Overall it was a great day that was filled with fashion and I even saw a few famous faces lurking around, not to mention being ten metres away from Amanda Wakeley...DREAM!

Venice Photo Diary

In late August I went on holiday and the first part of the holiday was 3 days in Venice. Venice is somewhere I've always wanted to visit as it is so famous and known for being a beautiful experience because of the water, gondolas and old intricate buildings and it certainly lived up to expectations.

We spent the first day visiting all the famous tourist attractions such as the Bridge of Sighs which was so near our hotel, St Mark's Square in the centre of Venice where the main buzz was, Rialto Bridge and the Basilica. All such beautiful places!

Then the next few days were spent visiting various little islands off Venice such as Murano and Burano. These islands still had a feel of Venice but a lot quieter. Burano is famous for coloured buildings and you could say that it is the Balamory of Italy. Each building is a bright colour and the island is like one big rainbow!

I highly recommend a visit to Venice, it's definitely something you should experience but it is by no means a relaxing trip, just something you have to do and experience!

Flash Floozy: Floral Crown Part II

Recently I received this beautiful floral crown which I have already wrote Part I of a blogpost on which you can read here.

Here I put together this outfit on holiday to show off the crown to it's full potential. The dress was the dress I bought for my 18th birthday and it was the perfect matching to wear with this floral crown. It's girly, floaty and almost the same colour.
The photos were taken on the cruise ship I was on recently for my holiday and this was over looking Croatia. The sun was in process of setting and the lighting was beautiful.

I really recommend getting one of these floral crowns. They are great for dressing up an outfit and adding a perfect summer vibe to an outfit. They could also be bought in darker colours to be more suited to wearing in winter.

Clean Laundry: Santorini

Recently I was sent these gorgeous little shorts by the lovely people at Laundry Boutique, an online shop that sells fashionable pieces with a quirky edge. They also have several stores popping up around the UK so look out for them.

The shorts are black with an elasticated waist with drawstring type material around the waist that can either be tied up in a bow or left to hang. The shorts also have a beautiful crocheted edge of flowers. The shorts are a great length and are so comfortable so that's why they were my choice for walking around Santorini on my holiday.

The shorts are so easy to style. Being black and a plain material apart from the crochet means that they are so adaptable and will go with pretty much anything. They are a great piece as they can be worn in summer but also in winter with a  pair of tights and boots and again because they're black they will go with any woolly jumper you own I guarantee

I can just tell I will be getting a lot of wear out of them and I really think they are a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe that you can wear with everything and build up from.

If you also want a pair of these shorts or anything else at all from Laundry Boutique, then check them out here and my readers get a 10% discount on Laundry Boutique by using my discount code: WHATLISSLOVES10 at the checkout!

Flash Floozy: Floral Crown

Last week I received a package from Flash Floozy which included this beautiful floral garland. Flash Floozy is a online fashion store selling handmade boho headpieces and jewellery. It was started by lovely founder, Marie Porter who describes her products as 'Boho Bling' as she has pieces that are more on the whimsical side but also has other pieces that are more jewelled to add sparkle.

This floral garland is just so beautiful. It is a light blue floral crown with slightly pointed petals. The underneath is finished off with green petals to give a more natural look to the roses. The headband itself is made from rustic vine and looks so natural and would blend in with most hair types if seen when being worn. Then the end is finished off with a cream ribbon to type at the nape of the neck to secure on your head. This adds such a dainty look to the floral crown.

I haven't worn this crown out properly yet but I am on holiday abroad as we speak so I will most definitely be including this beautiful head piece in with a few outfits so look out for the outfit posts that include this floral crown. This will include better photos so you can see what the crown looks like when it is on my head.

I think I will also be wearing this at London Fashion Weekend in September so look out for my outfit for that also!

Just a short post but you will be seeing more of this gorgeous floral crown on the blog in the future as I'm so impressed with the quality and handmade items are sometimes the best, especially when it comes to Flash Floozy!

Forget Me Knots Scarves

“We Are Creative, We Are Individual, We Are Strong"- Forget Me Knots

Recently I've teamed up with the lovely brand, Forget Me Knots Scarves! Forget Me Knots is a brand that design and sell beautiful real silk scarves.
The scarves are designed by Natalie Palmer and the brand has two collections out a year. The scarves are made by using photography and image manipulation to put them together and are then digitally printed onto crepe back silk.

Their current collection is called 'English Tropics' and is inspired by tropical prints such as palm trees and pineapples and are mixed with the muted colour palette of the English countryside.

I absolutely adore the look of these scarves. They're so fresh looking and unusual in a good sense. I can imagine someone walking up to me when I'm wearing one and trying to work out what the patterns and colours are because they're so interesting looking. I'm normally one to play it quite safe when wearing scarves but these, well I'd love to wear any of them. They would immediately jazz up an outfit and make any boring or plain outfit interesting looking.
The colours are great for pairing with most other colours as they have both slightly brighter colours with the classic monochrome, blues and lighter hues.

I will be doing a Forget Me Knot styling post in the future showing you how to wear and style up these beautiful scarves so look out for that in the future!

Which one is your favourite?

A Day at Windsor

On Saturday it was my mum's birthday so my family and I decided to go out for the day and we decided on Windsor and also Virginia Waters. It was a lovely day out as I haven't been to Windsor since I was a lot younger so it was nice to go back and see it again. It is a lovely place full of history and in that sense it reminds me of Oxford.

The weather was changing all the time before I left and I was wearing a t-shirt but brought this jumper with me too as it got colder due to the wind. This is a jumper I have bought recently from Topshop. It is a very light blue cropped jumper that is slightly longer at the back than the front. It is so warm but at the same time it is fairly thin knit and light weight and was perfect for just 'chucking' on to keep me warm on Saturday. It is from Topshop's new summer into autumn range and I love it.
I also wore my trusty black Topshop jeans and my black sandals from New Look.

I'm going on holiday tonight but don't worry, posts will still be going up and you have holiday outfits to enjoy when I'm back!

See you in 10 days!

Blazing White

So today I went and did a small photoshoot with my sisters so we can give some photographs to my mum in an album or a frame for her birthday on Saturday. Therefore I wanted to wear something nice but casual at the same time so I settled for this.

I went for a black bodysuit which is underneath the blazer and is one of the best basics I've ever bought, I wear it so often! Also I wore my black high waisted jeans that I always wear. I'm sorry fashion police but they just go with EVERYTHING!
The sandals are my new favourite shoes. I'm not normally a big shoe person, they don't really fuss me if they go with your outfit then perfect, that's it! These sandals though are so comfy and flattering and I will definitely be taking them for walking around Venice next week!
I added the black clutch which I bought years ago but it still goes with most outfit due to it being black.

The cream/off white blazer is the main item that makes this outfit, it's what adds a smart edge to a fairly casual outfit. I first wore this on my 18th birthday and it's the perfect cover up.

Blazer: H&M
Bodysuit: Missguided
Jeans: Topshop
Sandals: New Look

Lilu - Online Fashion Store

Recently I've been searching for a new online store to shop at for my holiday and other events that are coming up and I stumbled across Lilu on Instagram ( http://instagram.com/shopliluonline )
Lilu are a UK based online fashion store stocking the latest fashion trends along with a few timeless looking items too. As soon as I started looking at the items they had on their Instagram I just had to look at their website and I was not disappointed! They have everything from shorts to jackets to playsuits to shoes and accessories.

As I was trying to decide what I might want to get from Lilu I had to remember the events I have coming up soon. I am going on holiday in less than two weeks and visiting places such as Santorini, Mykonos and Croatia all on a cruise. When on a cruise the evening dinner attire is to be smart and I love this but sometimes smart can be a tiny bit boring so I really needed something that looks smart and classy but is still stylish and beautiful looking.
Lilu have an amazing selection of patterned and print items which I absolutely love but for this I thought I needed something a little more plain that can be 'jazzed' up with accessories. So therefore I chose this:

Images from Lilu website

This is a black wrap playsuit with long sleeves ( http://www.liluonline.com/item/black-wrap-playsuit-with-long-sleeves/12297 ).
I really think this a such a classy alternative to a smart dress for a cruise ship dinner. It is made out of polyester which means that it does not crease easily (pros of being a fashion student is knowing about fabrics) which means it will also flow nicely across the body. I also think the waistband and the way the playsuit crosses over at the stomach area is extremely flattering and would look good on almost anyone.
It would be quite a diverse item also as it can be worn in the summer but also in colder months with a pair of tights, boots and a jacket. Which is why it is a perfect item, well done Lilu
It is also on sale at the moment! It was £36.00, now reduced to £18.00. How could you say no?

Please take a look at Lilu and all their social media pages!

Visit their website and let me know what your favourite item is!

I Bagged It

 Top: New Look
Bag: Next
Jeans: Topshop

Last week I made a quick visit to the Next sale. I'm not normally one for Next as it can be full of 'mum' clothes but every now and again I can find a few pieces I like.
After searching through rails and rails of clothes, with very few size 6 or 8s, I moved over to the bags and found this little beauty.

I have been looking for a bag of a good size with normal straps as well as a longer 'over the shoulder' strap and I finally found it. It is black and off-white meaning it will go with most outfits. As well as being a great bag and because of the sale it was also a great price at £18 instead of the original £36! So pleased with how cheap it was!
