Camp Essentials

So I mentioned in my last post that I'm off to a summer camp today and I can't wait! I do this Christian summer camp every year and have done for the past 8/9 years and I loved it when I was a camper and I still love it now that I'm a leader there.
So after 8/9 years of doing this camp every summer you'd think I'd know a few things about what should be taken. This doesn't just apply to a summer camp, this could apply to camping if that's something you're doing this summer. If not, I will be doing a holiday essentials post before I go on holiday at the end of August.
This isn't everything obviously but just things related to fashion and beauty items.

  1. Sunscreen: Every year at camp we seem to have most days full of dry and sunny weather and at camp/when camping, you're outside most of the time and you will definitely need some form of SPF handy. You don't want to be that person that every single year gets burnt, do you? I know it seems like a lot of effort but do yourself a favour and stay burn free. You'll enjoy your week more!
  2. Sensible footwear: Yes, it was in fact me that wrote that subtitle and no, my mother has not taken over my blog. Now, I'm a bit slave to fashion when it comes to footwear and I always think to myself "If they go with your outfit, wear them!" when it comes to shoes but at camp that changes a bit, not much I have to say but a bit and when it comes to walks or doing sport I do always try to put my Converse on. They're probably not even the best footwear to wear but for me they're so comfortable, good for light-hearted sport and as far as I will probably go to wearing a pair of trainers. I'm just not that kind of person.
  3. Wipes: Wipes become your best friend at camp/when camping and can be used for most things. Seriously, just buy some wipes and even if you don't end up using them knowing they're there gives a small amount of peace of mind.
  4. A notebook: At my camp there are daily talks and meetings that take place so I would normally write notes and if you're going to write notes why not use a cute notebook? Paperchase do a great selection of cute notebooks all year round so check them out.
  5. Wellies: These are always a debatable item which each year is decided upon at last minute. Do I, Don't I...? Check the weather and if it's going to rain then mud may become involved and not taking wellies is like going to Glastonbury with flip flops; not a done thing.
  6. Moisturiser: At camp I always become extremely tired due to the early starts, sport, walks and late nights so using a good moisturiser is helpful for feeling and looking like you're still alive by the end of the week.
  7. Hairbands: By the end of the week you won't care what you look like anyway so just shove your hair up and get it out your face!
There are more items that I could have mentioned but they're definitely the most prominent camp items you need apart from you also need cute outfits!

Shorts: River Island
Notebook: Paper Chase
Glasses: Brand is: FCUK
Wipes: Superdrug
Shoes: Converse

This is Not a Jumpsuit

 Top - Next / Trousers - Zara / Wedges - New Look

I know what you're thinking, but that is a jumpsuit Liss? I know it looks like one but it's actually a pair of loose, very high waisted trousers and a strapless top.
I'm obsessed with these trousers, they're amazing. They go with and look good with everything. For me they're the ultimate pair of trousers. As much as I love wearing skinny jeans and wear them most of the time, I also love wearing looser fitting trousers and have now got several pairs without realising it. They're stylish, comfortable and above all they feel like you're wearing pjs. I can't think of anything better. They're also soft and fairly light weight, the perfect 'slipping on at the beach after a swim' trousers.
You'll definitely be seeing this outfit again.

Zara Sale

Every time there is a Zara sale, you know. It's tweeted, posted and talked about everywhere and the summer sale is currently under way and I couldn't help but buy a few items. I have learnt something from this sale and that's: if you like it and it's in your size, buy it, because I missed out on the most amazing pair of shorts. Gutting when that happens. Anyway let's get on with it.

Here I am just going to show you 3 items (although I got more) I bought in the sale:

The Dungarees

My hair was so curly today

Dunagrees - Zara / Top - New Look / Shoes - New Look

Dungarees. I haven't owned a pair since I was little but I've always loved them so when I saw this pair in the sale I had to get them. It's so casual and great for just chucking on a summer day or at the beach. It's very adaptable as it can be worn with most things e.g. any top can be placed underneath, any jumper can be worn over it and tights can be worn with it making it easily wearable for almost all year round. I can just tell I'm going to be living it in this summer.

The Shorts

Shorts - Zara / Top - New Look / Shoes - Primark

These shorts were a quick last minute choice as you can't have too many shorts in the summer and at £7.99 you can't go wrong. I feel as though I have barely any shorts this year as mine as all too big for me this year (there are down sides to loosing weight!) so seeing these for so cheap I decided to get them. They're monochrome which means they'll fit into about 80% of my current wardrobe. They can also be worn in the winter with a pair of tights.

The Bodysuit

Bodysuit - Zara / Jeans - Topshop / Shoes - Dorothy Perkins

I saw this on another blogger months ago and thought I was too late to pick it up in Zara but I found it in the sale which makes things even better and for £7.99. I really love bodysuits as they can go on with most items especially jeans and considering how much I wear my beloved high waisted Topshop Joni jeans, they're perfect. They mean no problems with having to tuck tops into my jeans with fear of them coming out or having to be 're-tucked'.

Just a small insight into my sale items and what I could potentially wear them with.

Fashion Show

From reading previous posts from June you may know that on my birthday I took part in a college fashion show. It was a massive stress and backstage was full of people panicking but in the end it was one of the best evenings ever.

We spent all day setting up the catwalk, background and chairs. We had several run throughs of everyone's outfits and with this came stress and a few disasters but it was all solved and turned out so well in the actual show. After run throughs we had a few hours for hair and makeup and it was safe to say everyone looked incredible.

Then came the show and we were all nervous as this is something us but mainly the second year students had been planning for months and it all came down to this moment. The show was amazing, the atmosphere, the lights, everything was spot on. Adrenaline kicked in and we all just had to go for it.

The photos aren't the best as we haven't had the official ones back yet but when and if I get hold of them, I will definitely post them.

Modelling a friend's top

60s shift dress we had made in our first ever project.

Here are photos of a segment called Sculpted. On the left is my friend Lissy wearing a dress I made and on the right is me modelling a friend's dress and accessories.

These two photos are of a second years festival inspired designs that we wore. (Me on the left)

It was such a fun experience and I cannot wait until it's me modelling my final collection next year!
