Christmas Wishlist 2014

When you were little I guarantee that every Christmas you would sit down and write a Christmas list for Father Christmas. In those days they were probably a long list of toys and gadgets from the Argos catalogue (come on, we all did it) but nowadays your list (if you have one) probably consists of Topshop and ASOS. Well mine does anyway...

Here are a few things on my Christmas list for this year:

Items are linked!

Yes I know, I'm probably the only girl into fashion that doesn't own this book but this Christmas I want this to change. I've heard great things about it and it's one of those books you can just flick through and feel inspired by.

I am a massive fan of this metallic trend at the moment, it just adds something to an outfit and you would just feel good pulling this out of your bag at the till. It would also make up for the amount of silver not actually in my purse...

This is the perfect crop top for that Christmas or even NYE party! Covered in gorgeous silver sequins you would probably feel like the disco ball itself! The colour means it's a very adaptable piece that could be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I would pair it with a high waisted midi skirt or leather trousers.

Another top yes, but a lovely one. Very simple and again, very adaptable. This would look great with a pair of high waisted black jeans and chunky black heeled boots and would look good with the neckline popping out from a large winter coat.

Like I said earlier, I love the metallic trend and I think these are perfect for winter. For those times that you're fed up of wearing boots all the time (yes, sometimes it really does get to that point) and you want to go for something a be different that adds another element to your outfit. These brogues are so 'on point' (isn't that what the cool kids say?).

I just love these plimsolls and I've asked for very similar ones myself for Christmas. These can be worn all year round and add a comfortable but stylish vibe to your outfit. These would dress down an outfit perfectly. Not to mention colour is so Christmassy!

Just a random 'want' of the month that I thought I would chuck in here. I think these mom jeans would be more flattering that most, they're slightly slimmer and high waisted than others I've seen. Get for when winter starts to ease off and we get back round to spring.

If I get this for Christmas this will be my go-to skirt of 2015 I reckon. So flattering around the waist and can be worn with most tops, from crop tops to body suits. There's not much more I can say because it's just so perfect. A great basic!

Another one of those books that you think that I should definitely being a fashion girl but shocker, I don't. A motivational book about the woman that started the fashion brand Nasty Gal. She went from broke to CEO in eight years. Apparently once you've read it you'll be raring to go and follow your own fashion dreams.

I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect fedora and I think I may have found it and just at the right time. I love wearing hats and if you know me I have a lot and I wear them as much as I can. A fedora in the winter just finishes off an outfit.

What's on your Christmas wishlist?

Autumn/Winter with Flash Floozy

Items:
Floral Crown - Flash Floozy*
Top - Oasis
Skirt - Vintage
Boots - Kurt Geiger

Recently I was kindly sent another floral garland from Flash Floozy. This garland is from their autumn/winter range but I also think it could be worn in spring.

It is made from brown vine wire and has pink and peach coloured flowers dotted over it, as well as deep red pip berries. Now I'm not really much of a 'girly girl' and I'm not normally a fan of the colour pink but I actually really love this and it brings a cute girly element to my outfit. The peach colour and the deep red pip berries make it feel autumnal and a perfect autumn alternative accessory to a hat.

It's very lightweight and comfortable to wear and ties up nicely at the back with a oxblood coloured ribbon.

You can buy it here: Floral Garland

Flash Floozy have a large selection of floral garlands and crowns in every colour and size and it would make a lovely Christmas present for any female.

Have a look at their selection and let me know which one is your favourite!

Also, how gorgeous are these heeled boots?!

Up the Shard

Just a short post!

I love London. There's just something about it, no matter how many times I go, I still love going back. So when I heard that my family and I were going for my dad's birthday, I couldn't be more happy as I hadn't been to London in a little while (since London Fashion Weekend).
For this trip we firstly went to see the poppies which was an incredible sight. So insane to think that each poppy represents a person.
Then we went and had coffee in the sunshine, next to Tower Bridge. The weather was so lovely and we just sat and relaxed, before walking across Tower Bridge and down the embankment towards the Shard.

I've been to the Shard before, earlier this year, but I wasn't complaining about going up twice in one year! If you've never done it, you definitely should.

My outfit for the day was very simple and just included a crop jumper from F&F, a leather gilet from Monki, Joni jeans from Topshop and heeled boots from Rocha John Rocha.

Enjoy the photos!

Santorini, Mykonos, Kotor and Croatia Photo Diary

With the recent cold windy weather, which feels like it has come upon us so suddenly, I thought I would share a few photos from my holiday in the summer (think of this as a part II to the Venice Photo Diary post).
As you know I went to Venice in the summer which was an incredible experience but very tourist-y (yep, definitely just made up a word but I'm okay with it) so for the second part of the holiday I was on a cruise and travelled to a few places.

The first (and best) place was Santorini. All my life I had wanted to go to Santorini and for some reason I just thought I'd would never get the chance to go so when I heard that it was one of our destinations I almost cried (true story). It's one of those places you just have to visit I think. If you're an avid Tumblr user like me then you will see numerous photographs of this beautiful place; it's white washed buildings with blue details, beige stoned walkways, the gorgeous pink flowers that stand out against the light colours of the place, the fabulous little houses and churches etc. I'm sure there's more I could say but I probably won't do it any justice.
When I went it was insanely hot but I tried to not let that affect me enjoying Santorini, a place I had wanted to visit for years. I'll be honest, I was not disappointed, it was just how I imagined it would be and probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. I will be back for you Santorini, don't you worry!

The next day I spent relaxing on the ship, enjoying the free pizza, live entertainment and sunbeds (the cruise life is the best life). That evening we docked in Mykonos, another place in Greece that I had been excited about going to, not because I had heard about it from a travel agent or a friend but because I knew the Kardashians had been there for one of their holidays in the last few years. Possibly a bad way of hearing about it as I probably expected it to look exactly like Kendall's Instagram photos but I loved it.
Seeing a place at night gives a different perspective to it and it seemed to still have that Santorini Grecian vibe to it but it had some of it's own character and that's why I liked it. It was full of restaurants overlooking the water, all with lights strung up above them and candles on the table. It was so chilled and relaxing. There were a billion little side streets full of jewellery shops and galleries. There were hidden cafes and bars, still all covered in little lights and candles. The streets were perfectly cobbled as if no one had ever set foot on them before. It was just so lovely.

With a few days at sea we set sail to Montenegro. I had never really heard much about it, let alone heard of the place we were travelling to so I had no idea what to expect but it was beautiful. Kotor is a waterside town surrounded by mountains and water and it reminded me very much of Switzerland, but warmer. It was a lovely place but the real treat was when we were back on board the ship and we could watch the sunsetting from our dinner table...absolutely stunning. The colours were what struck me, colours of orange, blue and green. I honestly can't even describe what it was like...

Finally there was Croatia, not sure what to expect after it being war-ridden not too long ago really and I'm not going to lie some parts were not that great to be honest, but I think you get that with any place you go to, you get the bad with the good, don't you. Other parts though were lovely, there were old streets and grand old buildings with pillars and to a certain extent reminded me of being in Rome.

This post is way over due but life is hectic and I've only just got round to it! I had an amazing trip and I think that going on a cruise is a great way to see and explore different countries and places all in one trip.

Liss, where have you been?!

Wait, don't shoot me yet, I've got a valid reason for not posting in a month! Okay, okay, it's been over a month but here is my reason...

I can't post these articles on my own blog as I wrote them for the Oxford Fashion Week blog and they own them but I can post the links and images on here to get you to read them.

Trend Report on London Fashion Weekend

As you will have seen from my previous blogpost, last week I went to London Fashion Weekend and I saw two shows. One was Amanda Wakeley (next blogpost) and the other was a trend show put on by the OUTNET.com. The show was made up of four main trends that the OUTNET.com think will be popular for AW14.

TREND 1: ONE AND ONLY

This is trend all about choosing one colour and basing your whole outfit on it! This can be in the form of shoes, accessories or different shades of the same colour. The look is from head to toe and because it is quite a minimal trend I saw a lot of different textures on the catwalk, from faur fur to lace, anything to make this minimal trend anything from boring!

TREND 2: CANDY CRUSH

Normally a trend for spring and summer but it has now transferred over to autumn and winter! Think light shades, think sweets from an old sweet shop, think baby versions of every colour. From baby pinks to blue to purples! The pastels should be fairly tailored but loose at the same time. Think casual workwear with an edge and a grown-up look to it. I have already seen a lot of muted pinks around the shops recently so I think this will be quite a hot trend until even next spring/summer.

TREND 3: JUNGLE FEVER

This trend is bright but classic safari colours. With leather and prints and as Angela Scanlon said about it before the show '...go for anything that looks like it's real enough to crawl off your back'. This trend ranges from loud prints to muted jungle colours of beige, brown and black. Earthly tones mixed with leather will be the perfect thing to wear this season, mixing the almost boring with edge.

TREND 4: FAIRY TALE ENDING

Who is the fairest of them all? The Fairy Tale Ending trend of course! This was a real wow trend to finish off the catwalk show. It featured large ballgowns, flowing frocks and A LOT of embellishment. Most dresses very feminine and floaty but some darker pieces added for more of an evil villain type look.
A lot of chiffon type of material was used, ranging in all colours, from the very bright attention seeking ones to the muted colours fit for a princess! Put on your tiara and join in on this trend and it's perfect for Christmas time!

The show was incredible and left me really inspired to see what I can do with this season's upcoming trends in my own wardrobe! What trend is your favourite?
