Trend Report on London Fashion Weekend

As you will have seen from my previous blogpost, last week I went to London Fashion Weekend and I saw two shows. One was Amanda Wakeley (next blogpost) and the other was a trend show put on by the OUTNET.com. The show was made up of four main trends that the OUTNET.com think will be popular for AW14.

TREND 1: ONE AND ONLY

This is trend all about choosing one colour and basing your whole outfit on it! This can be in the form of shoes, accessories or different shades of the same colour. The look is from head to toe and because it is quite a minimal trend I saw a lot of different textures on the catwalk, from faur fur to lace, anything to make this minimal trend anything from boring!

TREND 2: CANDY CRUSH

Normally a trend for spring and summer but it has now transferred over to autumn and winter! Think light shades, think sweets from an old sweet shop, think baby versions of every colour. From baby pinks to blue to purples! The pastels should be fairly tailored but loose at the same time. Think casual workwear with an edge and a grown-up look to it. I have already seen a lot of muted pinks around the shops recently so I think this will be quite a hot trend until even next spring/summer.

TREND 3: JUNGLE FEVER

This trend is bright but classic safari colours. With leather and prints and as Angela Scanlon said about it before the show '...go for anything that looks like it's real enough to crawl off your back'. This trend ranges from loud prints to muted jungle colours of beige, brown and black. Earthly tones mixed with leather will be the perfect thing to wear this season, mixing the almost boring with edge.

TREND 4: FAIRY TALE ENDING

Who is the fairest of them all? The Fairy Tale Ending trend of course! This was a real wow trend to finish off the catwalk show. It featured large ballgowns, flowing frocks and A LOT of embellishment. Most dresses very feminine and floaty but some darker pieces added for more of an evil villain type look.
A lot of chiffon type of material was used, ranging in all colours, from the very bright attention seeking ones to the muted colours fit for a princess! Put on your tiara and join in on this trend and it's perfect for Christmas time!

The show was incredible and left me really inspired to see what I can do with this season's upcoming trends in my own wardrobe! What trend is your favourite?

Liss Does London Fashion Weekend

Last Thursday, 18th September, I went to Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend which is something I had planned for months as I got the tickets for my birthday and I had been counting down the days ever since.

I had tickets for one trend show which featured 4 key trends that the OUTNET.com think will be hot for Spring/Summer 2015 and also a designer show which was Amanda Wakeley who had already showcased her collection earlier in the week at London Fashion Week. I had front row tickets to Amanda Wakeley and both shows were incredible. I will go into more details on separate blog posts about the two shows.

Before going to London Fashion Weekend I had spent weeks thinking about what I was going to wear and I thought I had an outfit planned but the weather was not as cold as I had first thought it would be and therefore had to almost change my whole outfit. After a lot of 'umming' and 'ahhing' and constantly having the weather app open on my phone, I finally decided on an outfit.
The weather was good and it was a pretty warm day for September so I decided to wear my flowy, very high waisted black trousers from Zara along with a light knit and mesh crop top from River Island. Seeing as it was a warm day, I didn't bring a jacket and I just wore my trusty black sandals from New Look. I almost didn't wear my hat but I decided my outfit needed something else added to it and I needed something to break up the all black so I added my Christy's London fedora to add a bit of autumn colouring.

At London Fashion Weekend there were plenty of boutiques and pop up stores to look around and my friend Alison and I spent a long time admiring the beautiful clothes on offer. The stores were pretty high end high street and a lot more expensive than I thought they would be but their clothing was so gorgeous. I saw a lot of fur around as that is a key trend for AW14.

In between a show and looking around the boutiques, Alison and I popped to the tote bag collection station to collect our free tote bag filled with goodies and we weren't disappointed. The tote bags included a HELLO Fashion magazine, Maybelline mascara, Garnier make-up wipes, Essie nail polish plus snacks and many more little goodies! I was so impressed with the bags!

Overall it was a great day that was filled with fashion and I even saw a few famous faces lurking around, not to mention being ten metres away from Amanda Wakeley...DREAM!

Venice Photo Diary

In late August I went on holiday and the first part of the holiday was 3 days in Venice. Venice is somewhere I've always wanted to visit as it is so famous and known for being a beautiful experience because of the water, gondolas and old intricate buildings and it certainly lived up to expectations.

We spent the first day visiting all the famous tourist attractions such as the Bridge of Sighs which was so near our hotel, St Mark's Square in the centre of Venice where the main buzz was, Rialto Bridge and the Basilica. All such beautiful places!

Then the next few days were spent visiting various little islands off Venice such as Murano and Burano. These islands still had a feel of Venice but a lot quieter. Burano is famous for coloured buildings and you could say that it is the Balamory of Italy. Each building is a bright colour and the island is like one big rainbow!

I highly recommend a visit to Venice, it's definitely something you should experience but it is by no means a relaxing trip, just something you have to do and experience!

Flash Floozy: Floral Crown Part II

Recently I received this beautiful floral crown which I have already wrote Part I of a blogpost on which you can read here.

Here I put together this outfit on holiday to show off the crown to it's full potential. The dress was the dress I bought for my 18th birthday and it was the perfect matching to wear with this floral crown. It's girly, floaty and almost the same colour.
The photos were taken on the cruise ship I was on recently for my holiday and this was over looking Croatia. The sun was in process of setting and the lighting was beautiful.

I really recommend getting one of these floral crowns. They are great for dressing up an outfit and adding a perfect summer vibe to an outfit. They could also be bought in darker colours to be more suited to wearing in winter.

Clean Laundry: Santorini

Recently I was sent these gorgeous little shorts by the lovely people at Laundry Boutique, an online shop that sells fashionable pieces with a quirky edge. They also have several stores popping up around the UK so look out for them.

The shorts are black with an elasticated waist with drawstring type material around the waist that can either be tied up in a bow or left to hang. The shorts also have a beautiful crocheted edge of flowers. The shorts are a great length and are so comfortable so that's why they were my choice for walking around Santorini on my holiday.

The shorts are so easy to style. Being black and a plain material apart from the crochet means that they are so adaptable and will go with pretty much anything. They are a great piece as they can be worn in summer but also in winter with a  pair of tights and boots and again because they're black they will go with any woolly jumper you own I guarantee

I can just tell I will be getting a lot of wear out of them and I really think they are a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe that you can wear with everything and build up from.

If you also want a pair of these shorts or anything else at all from Laundry Boutique, then check them out here and my readers get a 10% discount on Laundry Boutique by using my discount code: WHATLISSLOVES10 at the checkout!

What items take your fancy?
